Polazišna točka rada je transformacija grada usred porasta turizma u Zagrebu. Postavljajući pitanje “Čiji je centar grada?”, istražujem odnos javnog prostora i turizma. Izvodim akcije u javnom prostoru, a istraživanje prezentiram kroz knjige umjetnika i alternativne vodiče za turiste i stanovnike grada.
Kroz višemjesečno istraživanje pokušavam naći posao u hostelu, mjerim kolika je duljina izloga novootvorenih “finih” dućana ili mjerim koliko je prostora ulice zaista javno, a koliko je zauzeto otvorenim terasama kafića. Na ugostiteljski šećer ispisujem odnos svima dostupnih sjedećih mjesta i terasa kafića koje se nesputano šire po javnom prostoru pješačkih ulica. Šećere gerilski ubacujem među ostale šećere u kafićima.
The starting point of the piece is the tourist boom in Zagreb and implications it has on public space. By asking the question “Whose is the City’s Center?”, I research the relationship of public space and tourism using various actions and performances in public space, artist books, videos, alternative city guides and city walks.
Action in public space – I measure how much of the street is really public and how much is taken by café terraces. I question to what extent is public space really public, and how much of it is taken by the café terraces and I print information onto the sugar packages. I secretly (guerilla style) place my sugar bags among the rest of them on the tables in the cafés.
Rad Prisvajanje grada: turizam je moj diplomski rad na studiju Novih medija, ALU, a istovremeno je prvi rad na temu turizma. Uz njega paralelno nastaje i Zagreb turisti, trgovine, terase, trgovi koji pripremamo za 13. izdanje Urbanfestivala, BLOK. Proces i umjetničko istraživanje opisani su u novinama Prisvajanje grada: radni materijali koji smo tiskali za grupnu izložbu Herojska iscrpljenost u Galeriji Nova. Novine okupljaju materijale koji su nastajali od listopada 2014. do prosinca 2015. godine. Sadrže skice i sažetke intervencija, kombinirajući ih s materijalima sakupljenim tijekom radova Zagreb: turisti, trgovine, terase, trgovi i Razgovori o knjižarama.
Reclaim the City from the Tourist is my graduation project from the MA New Media program at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. It’s also my first work addressing the theme of tourism. At the same time I developed Zagreb: Tourists, Shops, Terraces, Squares, produced for the 13th edition of UrbanFestival by BLOK. The process and artistic research are documented in the newspaper Reclaim the City: Working Materials, which we published for the group exhibition Heroic Exhaustion at Galerija Nova. It contains the materials I collected in the period between October, 2014 and December, 2015; drafts and abstracts of interventions, material collected during the works Zagreb: Tourists, Shops, Terraces, Squares and Conversation About Bookshops.
